CHICAGO ROCK DUO WIN EMMY FOR LIVE PERFORMANCE OF CHEAP TRICK CLASSIC
BLACKBOX SNAG AWARD, RICK NIELSEN GUEST SPOT FOR TAKE ON “HE’S A WHORE”
Chicago, IL – NOVEMBER 12, 2009. NoVo Arts, Inc is proud to announce
that Chicago rock duo Blackbox has won an Emmy from the National
Academy of Television, Arts and Sciences. The ceremony took place
November 7th at the Park West in Chicago.
Blackbox, which features Damon Ranger on vocals/guitar and Gregg
Potter on drums, won the coveted award for their live performance of the
classic “He’s a Whore.” Legendary Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen
joined the duo onstage at a Chicago Grammy Chapter event at Columbia
College. CBS aired the video clip on March 27th, 2009.
This exciting news tops off an amazing year for Blackbox. In addition
to winning the Emmy, the group was handpicked for the Midwest leg of
the Van’s Warped Tour, kicked off Riot Fest in Chicago, played the
Lollapalooza Artist Lounge, performed two nights at Summerfest and
shared the stage with Eagles of Death Metal, The White Tie Affair, Lupe
Fiasco, Ratt, Billy Squier and Malik Yusef, amongst
others.
Blackbox’s newest CD, Never Gonna Give, features the song “D.U.D.E.”
which was co-written with Foo Fighters front man Dave Grohl.
Blackbox is honored to share their Emmy win with Rick Nielsen and is
looking forward to making the rest of 2009 just as amazing.
