About

Evan Stone originally took up the trumpet and choir as a third grader in the small town of Bayport Long Island, New York. By the time he was 12, he took to banging on cardboard boxes, and after receiving his first drum kit, he joined a rock band and was playing professionally in clubs at the age of 13.

After moving to California at the age of 16, Evan studied under Master Drummer, Roy Burns (Benny Goodman, Woody Herman) for 5 years and continued his studies under such accomplished drummers such as: Peter Erskine, Jeff Hamilton, Vinnie Colaiuta,
Tom Brechtlein, Joel Taylor, Joey Heredia, Chuck Morris, Richie Morales, Moyes Lucas,
Chad Wackerman, Dave Karasony, and Fred Weng.

Stone’s evolving, eclectic style has been shaped by artists such as:
Tony Williams, Jack DeJohnette, Elvin Jones, John Bonham and Stewart Copeland and his early musical influences include:
The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, The Meters, The Police, Chicago, Tower of Power, Elton John, Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell, Billy Joel, Keith Jarrett, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Jimi Hendrix and Frank Zappa.

His travels have brought him around the world to perform his own music as well as having played the traditional role of sideman for some very well known artists in the entertainment industry such as:

Awards and Accomplishments

- Currently Evan is the Bandleader for the ever-changing diverse group of multi-talented artists known as the Translucent Ham Sandwich Band
- Performs with Rock vocalist Jonneine Zapata and Singer/Songwriter Jason Feddy
- Won “Best Jazz Artist” in 2006 and 2007 at the OCMA Music Awards Show
- Won “Best Instrumentalist” in 2008 at the OCMA Music Awards Show
- Performs with trumpeter, Greg Adams Band (Tower Of Power)
- Performs with “EAST BAY SOUL” (Greg Adams, Phil Perry, Tom Scott, Eric Marienthal, Lee Thornberg)
- Recorded & performed with Hollywood Records recording artists, Aly and AJ
- Formed the project “Salty The Pocketknife” with Dustin Diamond (“Saved By The Bell”) and Scott and Rosebud Ireland of the band “Bug Guts”. They released their debut recording on Sonance Records in October 2003
- Toured with Pop Artist, Toni Childs, throughout Australia and New Zealand
- Member of the band “Speak”, a Psychedelic Groove band, who recorded their first self-released album in entitled “SPEAK” under the “BIG AS” record label
- Performed and recorded with artist Gregory Page and the Troubled Sleepers
