Larry S. Levine will soon be celebrating over 25 years as an Aquarian artist, educator, clinician, and performer.
From his earliest days winning drum corps competitions to his present position as an internationally profiled artist, he has lent his talents to many national recording projects and performers. He can be seen regularly as a touring educator and clinician and is one of the head writers, editors, and advisory board members for Classic Drummer Magazine and a contributing columnist for the on-line Not So Modern Drummer. He is an adjunct faculty member of the Original Long Island Drum Center and the L.I.D.C. Global Percussion Academy. He has also been profiled in International Musician, is listed in the Routledge Encyclopedia of Jazz Musicians, and is founder/advisor of East Coast drumming organizations that promote the percussive arts.
His valuable experiences with the art of drumming, as well as his dedication to educating aspiring players, are reflected in his production company’s award winning cable television instructional drumming series, DRUM-i-STIX. The program has been honored as a recipient of the 1999 Communicator and the 2000 Videographer Awards, both international media competitions that recognize outstanding contributions to the communications field. DRUM-i-STIX is shown in a variety of educational venues, including conservatories abroad, and the program has been recommended and praised by many top professionals. (The DVD series -DRUM-i-STIX – FROM PAD TO PERFORMANCE – a unique interactive learning program will soon be released.)
Levine is an elected member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS), the Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (LARAS) and has received two Grammy commendations for his educational and recording work.
