Rodrigo Oliveira was born in São Paulo, Brazil on the 24th of October, 1979. His career began in September of 1994 when he started a band named Carrascos with two high school friends. They recorded three demo-tapes and jammed with some independentbands from São Paulo. A couple of years later, in March of 1996, he joined Stronger, a death metal band from hishome town, and toured around the country. But after realizing the rest of the band wasn’ttaking the music as serious as he thought they should, he ended up leaving the band ayear later.
Right after that, in September of 1997, a drum audition earned him the position of Korzus drummer and, at the age of only 17, he played at the Philips Monsters of Rock, one of the biggest and most important metal festivals in the world. This was followed by the release of the album "Live at Monsters of Rock", recorded by MTV Brazil. During the following years Rodrigo played with Korzus all around Brazil, always playing the best and greatest tours a national metal band can provide for the audience.
In March of 2004, the album "Ties of Blood" was released (Unimar Music / Universal). It got excellent reviews and the best ratings in all specialized magazines and websites. "Ties of Blood" was considered the Best CD of the Year and Korzus was featured on the cover of all major Brazilian specialized magazines. With Korzus Rodrigo played at every major Brazilian festival such as Porão do Rock (DF), Abril Pro Rock (RE), Sepulfest (SC), AVR Festival (SP), Chimera Festival (SP) sharing the same stage with bands like Slayer, Slipknot, Manowar, Megadeth, Cradle of Filth, Exodus, Sepultura, Dream Theater, Biohazard, SOD and many others.
On the 24th of October 2004, Rodrigo flew to England to join British band Mercury Rain where he played a European Tour, passing through England, France and Spain with bands Tristania, Trail of Tears and Therion. In December 2005, Korzus was headliner of "Quito Fest", the biggest festival in Ecuador, playing for 15 thousand people. In August 2006, Korzus released the DVD "Video História".
Due to all of this Rodrigo Oliveira participated in the most popular Brazilian TV shows and also did interviews for the most important specialized magazine interviews, including Modern Drummer Brazil. From 2003 to 2008, Rodrigo was voted as one of the 3 best Brazilian drummers by the readers of Rock Brigade and Roadie Crew, the most important specialized magazines of the country.
For 2010, Rodrigo is preparing his first video lesson, supported by his endorsers: Pearl Drums, Aquarian Drumheads, Axis Pedals, Vic Firth Drumsticks, Meinl Cymbals, Power Click In Ear Monitor, Samson Microphones and Jägermeister. July 11th, 2010 marked a new period in both Korzus’s and Rodrigo’s history. The album "Discipline of Hate" was released worldwide by German label AFM Records, one of the biggest metal labels in Europe. The album received great reviews all over the world. It got maximum rating in Roadie crew, Rock Brigade and Comando Rock magazines, and was considered the Best 2010 Thrash Metal album, by fans and press worldwide.
On the 24th of May the video clip "Truth" was released on the internet, and was the most viewed music clip for 3 weeks on YouTube. It got over 30,000 hits. On the 6th of July, AFM Records reported that Korzus’ album is number one on the German Amazon website’s "Downloads-charts". The "Discipline of Hate Tour" starts on July 30th. Dates are being scheduled and the band’s agency guarantees over 40 concerts throughout Brazil till the end of the year. The first part of the European tour begins in December and will include several countries.
In between tour dates, Rodrigo is preparing his new workshop where he will disclose his work, raise doubts and interact with his fans.
