Tom Meadows

Band: Kylie Minogue

Tom started playing drums at the age of fourteen, switching from the violin and orchestras to gigs and bands. He was inspired by his first teacher, Andrew Missingham, to listen to Jazz and Latin music and began his career playing in London’s burgeoning Acid Jazz scene. A few years later, he met one of his biggest musical influences Mark Roberts, who encouraged Tom to explore different musical genres and new approaches to playing the drums. This lead to working with Jamie Hince (now part of The Kills) in the band Fiji. From there Tom was asked to join Independiente-signed Rosalie Deighton, touring her debut record ‘Truth Drug’. Continuing in the world of ‘alternative’ music, he met Paul Miro from Apes, Pigs and Spacemen and joined the band to promote their album ‘Free Pawn’.

After two years with AP&S, Tom moved to pop music, recording tracks for Emma Bunton and touring the UK and Europe with Lucie Silvas in support of her first album ‘Breathe In’. In 2006, he played for Girls Aloud on their ‘Chemistry’ tour and appears on the resulting ‘Greatest Hits Live’ DVD. He also performed with them at their UK festival debut (V 2006) and at the inaugural Vodafone Live Music Awards. Later that year, Tom and the band joined Lucie Silvas in the studio to record her second album ‘The Same Side’, produced by Danton Supple (Coldplay’s X&Y). Alongside continued work with Lucie and Girls Aloud, he was also began performing with Jamelia, promoting her album ‘Walk With Me’.
He’s been working with Welsh soul sensation Duffy for the past year, touring and promoting her million-selling debut album, ‘Rockferry’. Check out her website or myspace for tour dates and TV appearances.
