Phil Pardell was bit by the drum bug at a young age and immediately developed a tenacious hunger and excitement for the instrument. This mentality was further developed through the expertise of a legendary San Diego drummer and educator who instilled in Phil the notions of an endless journey of personal development and how enriching teaching can be. This would lay the foundation for his career as a musician.Phil’s thirst for knowledge was not quenched easily, as he wanted a piece of every genre he came across. After spending years working with San Diego's top musicians to develop an arsenal of skills as a performer and teacher, Phil sought out new challenges and perspective in Philadelphia. By 2007 he graduated from the University of the Arts with a Bachelors of Music in Instrumental Jazz Studies. During and following his years at UARTS, Phil sharpened his teeth performing with Philadelphia's finest musicians in a variety of styles ranging from avant-garde jazz and Brazilian batucada, to progressive indie rock and shoe gaze. Pushing his own boundaries and versatility is the ethos that always has and continues to guide Phil’s journey. He currently lives in Southern California and has a full load of work as a performer, teacher, session musician, producer, and co-host of The Drum Brigade Podcast.
