Roy Burns

1935 - 2018

Watch one of Roy’s favorite interviews with Dom Famularo.

Roy Burns is one of the very few drummers whose career has encompassed virtually every aspect of drumming and the music business. He has been a big band drummer, teacher, author, clinician, featured soloist, studio drummer, publisher, percussion equipment innovator and in 1980, became one of the founding owners of Aquarian Drumheads. In 2014, NAMM recognized his vast contributions to the music industry by presenting him with a Lifetime Believe in Music Achievement award. His love for drums and the drummer has created a company with a culture that continues to put the needs of the drumming customer first.

Roy was known not only as a world-class drummer of enormous skill but one who would “play” for the music and had the respect of all those that he performed with.

At Aquarian, Roy would often say, “I think it’s our job to help the drummer make music.” Roy was true to his word and we will carry on his legacy.

We at Aquarian celebrate his life and his passion for the music, and in his words, his appreciation “to be a part of the magic that is music-making.”

We Love you Roy.
